Blew a front CV joint 9 miles up a trail near Leadville and limped home in 2WD
Tbh I messed up last Saturday. I was running the Wheeler Lake trail outside Leadville with my buddy and about 9 miles in I heard this awful clunk, then the front end just quit pulling. Turned out I shredded the passenger side CV joint, probably from a bad line I took over a rock shelf. I had no spare and no cell service, so we pulled the front driveshaft and limped the whole way out in 2WD. Took us almost 4 hours to get back to the trailer and I was sweating every loose climb. Ngl it could have been way worse, but now I keep a spare CV and the tools to swap it in the truck at all times. What do you all carry as your bare minimum trail spare setup?
