Bought a $90 winch rope that barely lasted one recovery

Thought I was saving cash by skipping the name brand synthetic rope and grabbing an off brand off Amazon. First real pull on a muddy trail near Chattanooga and it frayed so bad I had to swap back to steel cable on the spot. The rope looked fine when I unboxed it but the thimble loop came apart under maybe 6k pounds of load. I know some folks run cheap gear without issues but this one felt like a gamble I lost. Anyone else had bad luck with budget winch lines, or did I just get a lemon?
