Finally swapped my all-terrains for mud-terrains and wow what a difference

Honestly I spent like 2 years running BFG KO2s on my Tacoma because everyone said they were the best all-around tire. But last month I took a trip up to the San Juan Mountains in Colorado and hit some real nasty mud after a storm. Those KO2s just packed up solid and I was slipping all over the place. My buddy who lives out there told me to try his old set of Goodyear Wrangler MTs just to see. Ngl the road noise is definitely louder on the highway now but the grip in the slop is night and day. I crawled through stuff that would have had me winching before. Has anyone else made the switch and regretted the noise trade off?

Put 35 inch Maxxis Razr MTs on my F150 and honestly the noise is barely worse than my old KO2s were. They hum a bit on the highway but I actually like the sound now, makes me feel like I'm driving a real truck instead of a minivan. Never going back to all-terrains after seeing what these can do.

18,000 miles on my old KO2s and I felt the exact same way you did. The first time I hit a muddy two track after a rain I was kicking myself for not switching sooner. I put a set of Cooper STT Pros on my Jeep and yeah the highway drone is real, especially above 65, but I actually got used to it after a week or so. The gravel roads I run after work are slick snot when wet and these things just bite and walk right through it. I'll take a little extra noise over spinning my tires every time I hit a soft spot.
