Found a trick for airing down tires on rocky trails faster

I was spending way too long letting air out of my tires on the Rubicon Trail last month, crouching there with a tire gauge every few minutes. Then a guy in a old Jeep showed me you can just pull the valve core out with a little tool and get it down to 15 psi in about 20 seconds. Has anyone else tried this method or do you prefer using a deflator gadget?

Honestly this is just like how people rush everything in life these days, from cooking to driving to fixing stuff around the house. Yeah it takes longer to do it right but you avoid headaches later that cost way more time and money. Sometimes the old slow way is still the best way, especially when you're stuck miles from home.

Pull the valve core out if you want to lose a tire on the trail man. That trick works fine for speed but you have zero control over where the pressure ends up. One little rock can bend your rim if you go too low and you won't know till you hear that nasty crunch. Ive seen guys do this and then spend an hour trying to get a bead to seat again with a ratchet strap. A cheap deflator gadget gives you way more consistency and you can hit the exact PSI every time without guessing. Just my two cents but slow and steady wins the race when you're miles from the pavement.
