Mud tires on dry pavement totally changed my mind about highway driving

I took my Jeep out to Big Bend last month and ran into this guy named Dave at the gas station in Terlingua. He pointed out my aggressive mud tires were gonna wear down in 10k miles if I kept driving 75 mph on pavement. I always thought big knobby tires were the way to go for any off road rig, but he showed me his all terrains after 3 years and they still had good tread. Now I'm thinking about swapping before my next trip to Moab. Anyone else run mixed terrain and made the switch?

Man I feel this. Ran BFG Mud Terrains on my old Tacoma for like 4 years and they were toast way before I expected. Switched to all terrains last year and honestly I wish I'd done it sooner.

I hear you Faith but I actually had the opposite experience. Those BFG Mud Terrains on my F150 went almost 55k miles before I replaced them. I ran them through three Vermont winters and they still had tread left for a fourth. Swapped to KO2s after that and honestly I miss the bite the muds had on wet rocks. Different trucks and different driving habits probably explain it. @johnson.faith your Tacoma might have just been heavier on that rubber than my old Ford was.
