The tire shop guy who swore my diff was fine, it blew 200 miles later
Back in March I took my Tacoma into a shop outside Flagstaff for a weird whine in the rear end. The guy, older fella named Rick, said it was probably just tire noise and told me to rotate and ignore it. I pushed back twice and he waved me off, said I was overthinking a 60,000 mile truck. Well, 200 miles later on the way to Sedona, the pinion bearing let go and showered the housing with metal. Rebuild cost me $1,400 and two weeks of downtime. Has anyone else had a shop blow off a noise that turned into a real failure, or am I just the unlucky one here?
