Tried airing down to 18 psi on a hunch in Moab and it changed how the whole trail rode
I usually run 32 psi everywhere because that is what the door sticker on my Tacoma says, so when a guy at the trailhead in Moab told me to drop to 18 I figured he was just being friendly and ignored it for the first mile of Fins and Things. Then I aired down at the next stop and suddenly the washboard chatter was gone, the tires wrapped the slickrock instead of skipping off it, and my wife stopped gripping the oh crap handle the whole ride. Is there a psi you settled on for mixed rock and sand, or do you just keep dropping until it feels right?
Been running 20 in the rocks and sand around Canyonlands after reading on a Jeep forum that 18 to 22 is the sweet spot for that mix. Door sticker psi is for hauling drywall on the highway, not crawling rock. Sounds like your wife is the real judge of tire pressure anyway.
