Hot take: I started sending my clients a plain text email instead of a fancy PDF report, and they actually read it now
I run ads for a few local businesses, and for about a year I was putting together these 10 page PDF reports with charts for every client. Nobody ever opened them. I could see the open rates in my email tool, and one client in Sacramento opened the report 0 times over 4 months while still paying me every month. So back in March I got lazy and just typed the numbers into the email body instead. Plain text, 5 sentences, main numbers and one thing I'm changing. That client replied in 20 minutes asking a real question about her budget. Six months later I've kept it up and my monthly calls went from 30 minutes of me walking through slides to 10 minutes of actual talk. Now I'm wondering if I should drop the call too and just do this over email. Has anyone else moved their client reporting to plain text, and did anything break when you did it?
