Just realized I've been writing every ad like it's a phone book listing
I run a small tree service in Boise and I've been writing my own ads for about 4 years. Last Tuesday a customer asked me why my ad said 'fully insured, free estimates, serving the area since 2019' when every other tree guy in town says the exact same thing. I pulled up the 6 other ads in my local paper and she was right, mine was word for word the same pitch with a different phone number. I changed it to lead with the one thing nobody else offers, hauling away the wood chips for free, and I got 9 calls in the first week. What's the one detail about your business that you never put in your ads because you figured it was too small to matter?
Holding onto things nobody else has isn't really about stuff, it's about what you know or can do that others can't. @webb.ben, most people have the same things sitting around, they just don't see the value in them. The trick is figuring out which of your skills or ideas actually stands out from the crowd.
