Ran a test ad on Facebook with a $50 budget and NO targeting at all last week

I figured it would bomb completely but it actually OUTPERFORMED my carefully segmented campaign by 3x on click-through rate, has anyone else seen better results from ditching audience targeting?

That $50 test ad probably got lucky with the algorithm throwing it in front of the exact right people at the right time... it's not something you can count on repeating. My own experience with broad targeting was a complete disaster, spent $200 on a similar test and got a 0.2% click rate with zero conversions, just a bunch of random clicks from people in countries where my product doesn't even ship. The whole point of targeting is to control for those wild swings and actually build a campaign that scales, not bank on one lucky lottery ticket. You'll see when you try to run that same ad again next week and it tanks hard.

Drove me crazy when I tried broad targeting too, @faith_carter, ended up with a bunch of clicks from some random island where shipping would cost more than the product itself. Reminds me of the time I ran a local ad and somehow got leads from three states away, algorithmic randomness is a real pain.
