Rant: Spent $400 on a targeted Facebook campaign and got zero real leads

I thought I was being smart by targeting local homeowners in my area for my cleaning service. Set up the ads with all the right interests and demographics, ran it for 10 days. All I got were likes and shares from people nowhere near my city, plus a bunch of spam comments. Did I miss something basic about how the algorithm works, or is Facebook just a waste for local service businesses now?

Blame YOUR targeting" - nah. Facebook's algorithm literally pushes your ads to whoever clicks most, not your actual target. It's a trap.

Blame YOUR targeting, not the platform. Facebook's algorithm works FINE for local service businesses IF you set it right. You probably picked way too broad interests or forgot to exclude people outside your service radius. I run a handyman ad for my small town and get 5-10 leads a week for $200 a month. Also check your landing page - if it doesn't scream "THIS IS FOR YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD ONLY" people ignore it. Try adding your city name to the ad copy and put a map of your service area in the image.
