Saw a wild billboard in Nashville that actually made me stop my car

It was for a local coffee shop and instead of a logo, it just had a huge QR code and the words 'scan for a free cold brew, no app needed'. I mean, idk if it's just me but that felt way more direct than any slogan. Has anyone else seen a QR code work that well in an outdoor ad?

My buddy in Austin got a free taco last week from a truck's sidewalk sign with just a code.

Austin has sidewalk signs with codes just sitting out for anyone to use? That's wild, you'd think someone would take the whole sign. I'm shocked they didn't have some guy standing there to check your phone or something. My brain just can't process that level of trust in public. The taco truck owner must be a way nicer person than I am. I'd be sure someone would ruin it by sharing the code everywhere.
