Shoutout to the guy who told me to scrap the whole campaign at a Portland coffee shop

I was showing him my new ad set for a local brewery, all polished and ready to go. He just pointed at the headline and said, 'Nobody cares about 'craftsmanship' anymore, they want to know if it's cold and cheap on a Friday.' Has anyone else had a moment where a total stranger gave you the brutal truth you needed?

Man, that reminds me of the time a barista roasted my website bio.

What did the barista even say? That kind of real talk is brutal but you can't buy that kind of feedback. Everyone's so nice online that you never hear the truth. It probably hurt but it's way better than another fake compliment.

Remember when we all tried to sound fancy with our ads? I was so sure using words like "artisanal" was the key. That kind of straight talk from a random person would have wrecked me a few years back. Now I see he was just cutting out the noise to say what people actually want. It stings but it's way more useful than another pat on the back. That guy did you a solid.
