Warning: That 'simple' client brief nearly tanked our entire Q2
Two weeks back, we got a brief from a new client that looked super straightforward, just asking for a basic social media push. We didn't push for more details, which was our first mistake. We built out a full campaign for their new app, only to find out in the final review call that their real goal was driving in-store traffic to 12 specific locations, not app downloads. The creative was all wrong, the targeting was off, and we had to scrap everything with a 72-hour deadline to rebuild. It cost us about 40 hours of unbilled work and nearly blew the relationship before it started. The lesson? Never assume a 'simple' brief is complete. How do you guys handle vague client asks without sounding like you're questioning their whole plan?

Ever feel like a client brief is just a really expensive game of telephone?

Worst part is when the final brief gets approved by someone who wasn't in the original meetings. They just greenlight a totally different game than the one you started playing.
