Got a bag of single origin beans from Honduras and wow what a difference

I always thought single origin stuff was just paying extra for a label but I picked up a bag from a local roaster in Denver for 18 bucks. Tried it side by side with my usual blend and the flavor notes were actually there, like real dark cherry and chocolate. Has anyone else had that moment where you finally taste what the bag is describing?

oh man that exact thing happened to me with a bag from some small batch place in portland. i got these ethiopian beans that said blueberry and i was like yeah right but then i brewed it and it straight up tasted like a blueberry muffin. idk if it was just the roast or what but i felt like i was finally getting what all the fuss was about. i mean i still buy the cheap stuff most days but it was a cool moment for sure.

blueberry muffin" sounds like a gimmick until you taste it, right?

Man that blueberry muffin thing is real, I still can't believe it lmao. First time I got a bag of Ethiopian yirgacheffe from a local shop here and it literally smelled like blueberries when I opened it, I thought they must have sprayed it with something. Then I brewed it and it was straight up fruit and cocoa, I felt like a fraud for years thinking coffee was just bitter bean water. My usual morning routine is still dumping generic Folgers into a Mr. Coffee though so I'm not some snob or anything. But that one moment where I actually tasted what they wrote on the bag made me feel like I finally unlocked some secret coffee club.
