My cheap scale was off by 3 grams, now my pour over finally works
Been fighting weak cups for weeks with my old kitchen scale. Turns out it was reading 3 grams heavy, so I was always under-dosing the beans. Picked up a $15 gram scale at a shop in Portland and my 1:16 ratio tastes right for the first time. Anyone else had a dud scale mess with their brew for way too long?

Gotta say, that seems like a lot of fuss over 3 grams. I mean, I get that ratios matter but most people can't even taste that small of a difference, especially if you're using a decent grinder. Are you sure you weren't just brewing too weak because of your water temp or grind size instead? Feels like jumping to the scale being the bad guy is the easy answer. But hey, if it tastes better to you now, then good, I guess. Just don't go down the rabbit hole of needing a $200 Acaia scale to make a decent cup, that's where it gets silly.
