Pour-over ritual gone, now I'm a French press convert after 9 months

I used to babysit my pour-over every morning, standing there for 5 minutes with a gooseneck kettle in Austin, timing every bloom like a mad scientist. Then I broke my ceramic dripper in a clumsy sink accident, and my backup was a dusty French press from a garage sale. Now I just dump coarse grounds in, wait 4 minutes, and press, it's so much less fussy and honestly tastes fuller, has anyone else ditched a fancy setup for something simpler after an accident?

My buddy Marcus went through almost the exact same thing, except his Chemex broke when his dog knocked it off the counter during a thunderstorm. He was so mad he just grabbed this old metal press his dad had in the basement and figured he'd use it for a week. Nine months later, he still uses it every morning and even joked he'd throw a party if his Chemex replacement ever arrived. He says cleaning it is way easier too, just rinse and dump the puck outside. I keep telling him to give me his fancy dripper if he's done with it, but he just laughs and says nostalgia isn't worth the wait.
