Switched my drip grind from medium to coarse last month and my bitter cups finally went away

I was grinding medium for my drip maker for about a year and kept getting this harsh, bitter taste no matter what beans I used. Last month I went two clicks coarser on my $40 hand grinder and the same beans taste sweet now, totally different cup. Has anyone else had a grind change fix a flavor problem they thought was the beans?
