Unpopular opinion: my $15 Walmart french press made better coffee than the $60 name brand one I upgraded to

Been using the cheap one for about 8 months with zero issues, then switched two weeks ago and it somehow lets more grounds slip through and the handle gets too hot to touch, anyone else had way better luck with the budget version?

Handle gets hot enough to burn you?

Oh man, the handle getting too hot is such a pain, I had the same thing happen with a fancy kettle once. You know, it's funny how sometimes the cheap stuff just works better because they don't overthink the design. I've noticed this pattern everywhere, like with those expensive kitchen gadgets that have a million features but the basic $10 tool does the job faster and easier. It's like people get so caught up on making something premium that they forget the simple stuff that actually mattered in the first place. Your cheap french press probably just has fewer parts to break or complicate things.
