Heard a pilot at the FBO say 'a clean plane flies better, but a signed-off plane flies longer'
It was during a pre-flight walkaround for a Cessna 172. That phrase stuck with me because it's a good reminder that our paperwork is just as critical as our wrenching. How do you guys balance thoroughness with getting the logbook entries perfect under time pressure?

That signed-off plane line is so true. I always wonder if the pressure to get it done fast makes us miss the small stuff that a slower, cleaner inspection would catch.

My logbook entries have more cross-outs than a student pilot's first solo! @the_anthony is right about speed hiding small stuff, so I force myself to slow down for the final check. A messy signature is better than a missed item.
