I finally swapped out the old Bendix magnetos for Slicks on a Lycoming O-320

Been working on this old Piper Cherokee for the last few weeks. Owner wanted to keep the original Bendix mags because they were factory. But they were giving us problems. Hard starting in the morning, rough idle. I told him let's try the Slick mags instead. Night and day difference. The engine fires up on the first blade now. Idle is smooth down to 600 rpm. Timing was way easier to set too. Bendix has that dumb impulse coupler that always wears out. Slick just works better. Anyone else made the switch and never looked back?

Used to swear by Bendix but you've convinced me to give Slicks a shot on my next swap.

Wait are you talking about the disc brake pads or the old Bendix drum brake shoes? Because those are two completely different things and the Slicks won't work on your drums if that's what you're running. I only ask because I've seen a few guys make that mistake thinking all Bendix stuff is interchangeable. The Slicks are specifically for disc brake applications and they're decent pads but they won't help you if you've still got drums on the back. Might want to double check your setup before you order anything.
