I thought double-twist safety wire was overkill until I saw a failure.
I used to rush through safety wire jobs. Thought the double-twist method took too long. Last month, a single-twist wire came loose on a flap actuator. Caused a minor but scary vibration during taxi. Now I always take the time for double-twist. It might add minutes, but it prevents headaches. Seeing that failure made me a believer.

Question if the vibration was from the wire though. Could've been something else getting loose.

Remember my buddy swore his truck's wobble was a tire balance issue for months. Spent a bunch on alignments and new tires, still shook like crazy. Turned out to be a cracked engine mount the whole time, letting the whole thing vibrate. Sometimes you fix the obvious thing and miss the simple, loose part right next to it.

Yeah, I chased a rattle for weeks that was just a loose heat shield!
