Just realized a lot of guys are torquing wheel bolts wrong on Gulfstreams
I was watching a new mechanic do a wheel change last Tuesday and he was using a rapid impact gun instead of a click torque wrench for the final pass. He said he's been doing it that way for 3 years at a regional airline before moving here. Has anyone else noticed this becoming more common or is it just my hangar?

Blew a tire on my own car once because I trusted the "calibrated elbow" method. Learned that lesson the hard way while walking to Autozone in the rain.

Wait, you're sure he was using a regular impact gun for the final torque on a Gulfstream wheel? I thought those things have a specific torque sequence and you have to back off the torque wrench after each bolt or something like that.
