Old timer told me to always safety wire the oil filter drain plug...

Guy named Jerry at my first shop back in '08 swore by it. Ignored him for years until I had a Cherokee 180 dump oil all over the ramp after a filter loosened up mid-flight. Now I do it every single time, no exceptions. Anyone else have a piece of advice they wish they'd listened to sooner?

Yeah, I learned that one the hard way too, it's a lesson that sticks with you.

So true though, why do we always have to learn things the hard way? It's like our brains are wired for the long route or something.
