Rant: I called the borescope fad a waste of money for 2 years, and a cracked blade in Tulsa proved me wrong
Every seasoned guy at my shop kept saying a $200 borescope would never beat a flashlight and a mirror, so I skipped buying one for two years. Last Tuesday we had a 737 come in at Tulsa with a weird vibration, and I spent 40 minutes poking around the HPT with a mirror and saw nothing. A new kid handed me his cheap scope, and in about 90 seconds we spotted a crack on a blade root that a mirror would never show from that angle. Now I'm the guy telling everyone to buy one, which is annoying even to me. Anyone got a brand that holds up in a hot section?
