Took a chance on a cheap borescope last week... big mistake

I needed to inspect an engine cylinder on a short notice and grabbed a $40 borescope from Amazon. The image quality was so bad I couldn't tell a crack from a scratch. Swapped it out for a $300 Snap-on model and the difference was night and day... clear picture, flexible cable, actually fit into the port. Has anyone else learned the hard way that some tools just aren't worth skimping on?

I mean, you're looking inside an engine cylinder, not performing open heart surgery with it (though I guess both could go bad). A cheap scope might be fuzzy but mine gets the job done for spotting obvious problems, maybe you just got a lemon?

Heard somewhere that @cole356 might have lower standards than the rest of us!

Ha yeah I totally feel that, my cheap scope is basically a blurry mess but it still shows me cracks and carbon buildup just fine.
