Dub vs sub flip flopper here, 4 years of wrong opinions
I used to swear subs were the only pure way to watch anime, like dubs were for lazy people. That opinion stuck for 4 years until my friend forced me to watch Space Dandy dubbed during a long road trip to Austin. The voice acting had this comedic timing that the sub just didn't hit for me, and I realized I was missing half the jokes reading subtitles. Now I check both versions before deciding, and honestly it takes like 10 minutes of comparing a random episode. Has anyone else done a complete 180 on this and found the dub better for comedy shows specifically?

That 10 minute comparison trick is exactly what I do now. I got dragged into Ghost Stories dub by a friend and it was a total game changer. The sub is a straight horror show but the dub is basically a comedy roast where the voice actors are just making fun of everything. Had the same thing with Ouran Host Club, the dub jokes land way faster because you catch the tone in the voice, not just the words. Still watch subs for stuff like AoT or serious dramas, but for comedies I always check the dub first now. It really does change how you see a show when the timing hits right.
