Finally gave up on crunchyroll after the app crashed mid-episode for the 5th time this week

I was watching episode 7 of that new mecha show last night and right at the big fight scene the whole thing froze. Had to restart from the beginning cause it wouldn't save my spot. This happened 3 times in the last 3 days. So I finally cancelled my subscription and switched to hidive instead. Anyone else hit a breaking point with a streaming service like that?

Maybe it's just me, but I bet the problem is less about the apps themselves and more about how these companies are all using the same cheap streaming backend. They all rush to get content out and cut corners on the actual tech that keeps things running smooth. I noticed my internet speed was totally fine when Crunchyroll froze, but the buffering was all on their end. It's like they spend all their money on licensing new shows and forget to pay for servers that can handle people actually watching them.

That 9.99 a month for Crunchyroll doesn't buy much server space, does it? You really think they're just using the same cheap provider as everyone else, or are they all too scared to charge what it would actually cost to run a stable service?

@grace_gonzalez46 you're totally right, I've thought the same thing. Feels like they just throw some cheap servers up and hope nobody notices when it glitches, all while they're busy buying the next big anime.
