Hit 50 completed anime on my list, but it's the rewatches that changed things

Last night I crossed number 50 on MyAnimeList, figured that was a good milestone or whatever. But then I looked back and saw I'd rewatched about 12 of those, some like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood twice. I realized the rewatches mattered more because I caught filler arcs differently during the second pass. My whole opinion on slice of life shows flipped after a redo of Barakamon, found the pacing I hated first time was actually the point. Now I'm trying to figure out if a show is bad or just needs a second look. Has anyone else had a show that only clicked after you gave it another shot in over a year?

Honestly, that hit me hard because I did the same thing with Steins;Gate. First watch I was bored out of my mind for like six episodes, dropped it for months. Then I came back after a year and suddenly every little weird scene made sense, the payoff felt insane. And I get what you mean about slice of life too, I hated Clannad first time but the rewatch wrecked me emotionally in a good way. Some shows are just built for a second pass, they expect you to know what's coming so the small stuff lands. I think there's a real difference between a show being bad and being ahead of where you're at.
