PSA: the used book store on 4th Street has a hidden anime section in the back

So I was browsing at Book Nook last weekend looking for old manga, and I noticed this doorway behind a shelf near the register. Turns out it leads to a small room with stacks of rare anime art books and collector's editions. They had a full set of the original Trigun manga for like $8 each. Has anyone else stumbled on secret spots like this in local shops?

Damn, that's a legit score. Found a similar setup at a thrift store in Denver once - they had a closet labeled "overflow" but it was packed with old shonen jump issues and laser disc anime. Staff didn't even know what they had. $1 each. Best part about hidden spots like that is the prices stay low because nobody's trying to flip them online yet.

Oh man, that's awesome! I found a similar hidden room at a comic shop in Portland full of out-of-print art books just sitting in boxes.

It's funny how places hide their best stuff like that. I've noticed this pattern where the really good finds in life are never out in plain sight anymore. With everything being so easy to find online (but also kind of sterile and boring), the magic is in the places you have to dig a little. There's a whole underground network of weird little shops and collections that don't even bother with a proper website, which is exactly why they're so great. It's like the internet has made everything so searchable that anything actually worth finding has to be a little bit hidden, you know? @fiona_murphy found the perfect example of that with those art books.
