Rant: The $120 figure I bought for the shelf is now a paperweight

Been collecting for a few years, mostly cheap prize figures. Last month I finally caved and preordered this detailed Ichigo figure from an obscure site. Paid $120 upfront, no reviews anywhere. Figure showed up with a snapped arm and paint chipped on the face. Site says returns need me to ship it back to Japan at my own cost, so that's another $40. Basically burned $160 on a broken toy. I could have just waited for the local shop to get it and checked the box in person. Anyone else get burned by an online import preorder? What do you do when the box looks fine but the figure inside is busted?

$40 to ship back? That's insane. I've sent stuff to Japan before for a different hobby and it cost me like $60 for a tiny box, so I feel your pain there. But $120 for a figure with zero reviews anywhere, that's the part that really gets me. I don't care how good the promo pics look, if I can't find at least one person online saying it's not trash, I'm not touching it. You basically paid to be the test dummy.
