Remember when a classmate told me to skip the anime club orientation?
Back in 2014, my friend Mike said the orientation for the anime club at our college was a waste of time. He thought we could just show up later and catch up. We ended up missing the sign-up sheet for the fall marathon and spent two months on the waiting list. Has anyone else had bad advice about club events that backfired?
I mean I used to be one of those people who thought orientations were just a formality too, figured you could always figure things out as you go. But honestly getting stuck on a waiting list for two months because you missed one sign up sheet? That would have changed my mind real quick. idk maybe it's just me but that kind of thing makes me realize the people running these events actually put thought into why they have specific steps. Definitely makes you think twice before skipping the boring stuff.
Doesn't it make you wonder how many of those little rules are actually there to protect the organizers from liability or something? Like, missing that sign up sheet might not just be about being organized, but about covering their bases legally if something goes wrong. It's one of those boring things that probably saves them a ton of headaches down the line.
