Shoutout to the guy at Anime Expo who called out my hero worship

I was standing in line for a panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles last summer, going off about how My Hero Academia is the best shonen ever made. This guy behind me just goes 'you ever watch anything that came out before 2014?' and handed me a flash drive with Legend of the Galactic Heroes on it. He wasn't rude about it, just made me realize I was stuck in a bubble. Has anyone else had a random stranger force them to watch something older and it actually clicked?

110 episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a commitment but I binged it in two weeks because it totally changed how I look at anime. Did the guy also quiz you on the politics later like mine did?
