Showerthought: 90% of anime discussions are just people arguing about power scaling
I was scrolling through a thread on MyAnimeList last night and counted 8 out of 10 posts were just ranking who would beat who in a fight. Found a stat that power scaling debates make up like 87% of all comments on popular battle shonen threads. Who actually talks about the story or animation anymore?

Man, my buddy Chris spent an hour yesterday trying to prove that Goku could beat Saitama. He was pulling up YouTube videos and even made a chart on his phone about speed feats. Then I asked him what he thought of the last episode's character development and he just stared at me blank. People really do just care about who punches harder.

But doesn't winning a fight matter more than a character's feelings though?

Wait, did your buddy actually make a speed feat chart? That's next level lol. Honestly, the best way to shut those convos down is to ask them to explain the actual plot of the arc they're pulling feats from - 9 times out of 10 they can't even name the villain's motivation.
