Spoiler culture in episode threads is totally out of control

I clicked on a discussion for the latest big finale and got the entire ending spoiled in plain text. It HAPPENS every single time a popular show airs. Remember when people used to hide spoilers behind tags? Now it's like they want to ruin it for others. I had to leave three different threads just to avoid learning key moments. This makes me not want to join ANY conversations until weeks later. Why is it so hard to follow simple rules? The whole point of these forums is to share thoughts without wrecking the experience.

Tell me about it. I'm the worst, blurted out a major death without thinking last week. My friends still haven't forgiven me. So now I'm paranoid, avoid all threads like the plague. The fun of sharing reactions is completely ruined. It's simple, just use the tags, but nobody bothers anymore.

I used to ignore spoiler tags, but your story totally changed my view.

Man I started seeing spoilers as a test of patience lol. Like if I can scroll past a tagged bit without clicking, I get to enjoy the surprise later. It's turned into this little game for myself. Makes waiting for new episodes way more fun honestly. Kinda flipped a dumb problem into something that builds up the hype instead of killing it.
