That $80 DVD box set I bought without checking the region code
Picked up a full set of Cowboy Bebop at a flea market for $80, got home and realized it was region 2 locked. Has anyone else gotten burned by importing anime stuff without double checking compatibility?

Fancy Frisbee" is a good way to put it, but there's another side to this. Region 2 DVDs often have different special features and sometimes better video transfers than the North American releases. I've seen some collectors specifically hunt for region 2 discs because the extras are better. The real issue here isn't the region lock itself, it's that most people don't know they can just get a cheap multi-region player for like $30. That way you don't lose the $80 and you actually get to watch the show how it was originally released.
