That time my cousin's wife argued with me about a filler arc at Thanksgiving

So last year at my cousin's place in Cleveland, his wife spent 20 minutes insisting the whole Bount arc in Bleach was canon because she saw it on some wiki. I tried to explain it was filler, but she kept pointing at her phone like it proved everything. She finally conceded when I pulled up the episode list and showed her episode 64 to 109 had no manga source. Has anyone else had a 'but the wiki said so' moment that just made you laugh and walk away?

Honestly I heard somewhere that the wiki people finally tagged it as filler after years of arguments, so your cousin's wife was at least fighting a losing battle with the internet itself.

People get so attached to whatever they first read online, it becomes their whole personality. Once something is on a screen with a source listed, they treat it like it came down from a mountain on stone tablets. The wiki could literally say the show was written by a team of hamsters and someone would argue with you about it. It's the same reason people argue about restaurant health ratings or movie reviews these days, they just trust the first thing they see without checking anything else. You can show them the actual proof and they'll still look at you like you're the crazy one for five more minutes. Eventually they give up, but they never really admit they were wrong.
