Appreciation post for the old timer who showed me how to re-level a washer without using a level
Guy at a laundromat in Bakersfield just dumped a cup of water on the machine and watched where it pooled, told me the water never lies, and I haven't touched a bubble level since - has anyone else got a weird old trick like that they swear by?

Yeah the water trick works way better than you'd think, did it on my own washer last month.

My buddy Mike from Fresno still uses a piece of string with a socket wrench tied to it to check if stuff is level. He learned it from his grandpa who was a drywaller back in the 70s and swears a bubble level can lie to you but gravity never will lol. The other day he was hanging a cabinet in his kitchen and used that old string trick, took him like two minutes. I told him he looked crazy but honestly the cabinet came out perfect, no gaps at all. Makes me wonder what other old school tricks we're all sleeping on.
