Had a 4-hour fight with a dishwasher that was just unplugged

Got a call for a Bosch that wouldn't power on, and I spent the whole morning checking the door switch, control board, and wiring harness before my apprentice pointed at the outlet behind the cabinet. The customer had pulled it out to paint and never plugged it back in. How often do you guys actually check for power at the receptacle first, or do you dive right into the machine like I did?

Honestly, I feel your pain so hard. Tbh I've done the same thing more times than I want to admit, like tracing a whole dead circuit before checking the breaker. @stellaa69 makes a good point too, they probably knew and just didn't want to say. It's always the simplest thing that wastes half your day.

Oh man, that's the worst! I totally get where @ward.jamie is coming from, since we all skip the obvious step sometimes. You just feel like such a genius after checking everything but the plug.

Did the customer admit they moved it for painting, or did they play dumb? Always makes me wonder.
