Had a weird one with a Samsung fridge ice maker in a rental unit yesterday

The auger motor on a 2021 model just gave out, no warning at all. It was the whole assembly, part number DA97-15234A, and it's a known issue they don't really talk about. I had to pull the whole thing and order the kit, which set the owner back about $130. Anyone else run into this specific motor failure lately?

My Samsung fridge has been running fine for seven years with zero issues. stellachen, maybe you just got a bad unit or had a bad installer. Their Bespoke line gets great reviews for being easy to fix with swappable parts. I know a lot of people who have had their washers and dryers for a decade without trouble.

Man, that's a real pain. Is it just me or do these newer models feel way less solid? I had the same exact part go out on a fridge last month, no warning at all. It's frustrating when you know it's a common problem but there's no real fix from the company. That repair cost sounds about right, which stinks for the owner. Stuff like this just shouldn't happen on a fridge that new.
