I finally cracked a trick for stuck fridge water valves

Had a Frigidaire that wouldn't stop dripping from the dispenser. Replaced the valve twice, still leaked. Anybody else found that the plastic supply line gets deformed right where it meets the valve, and replacing that fixes it?

Whoa hold up, you're on the right track but I gotta gently push back on something. The plastic supply line getting deformed is definitely a real problem, but it's usually the other end of that line that causes issues. The little nylon ferrule inside the compression fitting gets crushed over time and then the tube slides out just enough to let water by. You gotta cut off that crushed part of the line, put a fresh ferrule on, and tighten it down just snug. Don't crank on it like a lug nut or you'll just deform it all over again.

I read somewhere that some people just replace the whole supply line with a braided steel one to avoid this mess altogether.
