I finally hit 500 dryer vent cleanings in my service area around Springfield... and I think it's a bad sign.

Everyone talks about these jobs like easy money, but hitting that number in under three years shows how many folks are ignoring basic upkeep. I'm finding full blockages behind brand new units in houses less than a year old. Has anyone else in a newer development seen lint buildup this fast?

Sounds like a good problem to have for your business though, right? Maybe people just don't know they need to clean them that often.

You'd think so, but it's frustrating. People wait until there's a real problem, and that's harder on the dog.

Hold up, you're looking at this all wrong. That's 500 homes you made safer, man. Like @the_holly kinda said, it's a service people forget about. New builds use cheap, skinny ductwork that clogs fast, it's not always neglect. Maybe the real issue is builders cutting corners, not lazy owners. Your work is proof the service is needed, not a sign of doom.
