Just had a Frigidaire control board die on me mid-repair

Was swapping a simple door switch on a fridge in Austin yesterday and the main board just fried itself when I plugged it back in, has anyone else had these boards fail that randomly?

Had a Frigidaire do the same thing last summer. It's usually a power surge through the neutral line when you plug it back in, especially if the compressor tries to kick on right away. I always unplug the fridge for at least a few minutes before disconnecting anything, and even then I'll sometimes pull the main harness connector and tape off the pins if I'm working near the board. Sucks you had to learn it the hard way, but that board is toast, no fixing it.

Yep, learned that the hard way on a Samsung last year. Always wait five minutes before plugging back in.

Rough way to find out. I've been there with an old Whirlpool, same exact outcome. That five minute rule is gold, saves you a whole lot of money.
