My old way of checking for gas leaks was a joke

For years I'd just use soapy water and a prayer, until a job in Tempe last month where I found a tiny leak with a proper detector I finally bought. The homeowner said, 'I thought I smelled something funny for a week,' and I felt like a real dummy. How many of you still use the old soap trick, or did you switch to a tool too?

Ever try to find a leak in a spray paint can by shaking it? Did that once and got a face full of paint, lmao. Soapy water sounds way smarter than my dumb idea.

Nah, shaking it is the real test though! If it's gonna blow, better in your hands than later when you're actually using it. Soapy water just delays the surprise, lol.

Used to be on team shake test for sure, thought it was the only real way to know. Then my old bike tire tube gave me a tiny leak that just hissed, no shake at all. The soapy water bubbled up right away and showed the exact spot. Changed my whole view on finding leaks, gotta admit.
