Spent 90 minutes chasing a phantom error code on a Whirlpool washer, turned out to be a loose wire I'd already checked twice

I read on a repair forum just last week that those Whirlpool boards are super sensitive to vibration, so connectors can wiggle loose over time even if they look seated right. I had a dryer once where the thermal fuse was blown but the multimeter shorted out on me, so I spent an hour checking everything else first. The worst part is when you've already looked at that exact spot but your brain just refuses to accept it could be that simple. Now I always keep a can of compressed air handy to blow out connectors before I even start testing - saves me from chasing ghosts like that.

90 minutes of your life you'll never get back. Had an old Chevy that pulled the same trick on me.

Saw a mechanic say those Chevys had bad ground wires...
