That Samsung ice maker took me 6 hours, turns out it was a $4 sensor
Went back and forth on this fridge for a full Saturday, replaced the auger motor and the door switch before I thought to test the thermistor at 12k ohms instead of just looking at the frost pattern. Has anyone else been burned by assuming the obvious part is fine just because it looks clean?

Man, "looks clean" gets me every time. I had a similar thing with my dryer where the heating element looked totally fine, no burns or breaks, but the thermal fuse was the real issue and it tested fine until I wiggled the wire. Spent a whole afternoon pulling the drum apart and checking the thermostat before I realized the connector was loose and just needed a quick crimp. Sometimes the part that looks perfect is the one lying to you, I swear it's like the appliance equivalent of a gaslighting ex.
