Took me 3 years to realize I was over-tightening dryer vent clamps
I had a call last month where the customer kept complaining about their dryer taking forever. I checked everything - vent path, lint buildup, airflow, the whole nine yards. Turns out I was cranking those spring clamps way too tight and crushing the foil ducts into a pinch point. The customer's husband was an HVAC guy and he just casually pointed it out while I was packing up. Anyone else have a basic habit that was messing up your repairs without you knowing?

Ha, @stella_lane been there with the shop vac hoses too! Guess we're all just out here crushing our own airflow and wondering why nothing works lol.

Did the same thing with my shop vac hoses for years before someone set me straight.

Oh man Ive totally done that too. The thing is you actually want the hose to be as short and straight as possible for maximum suction. Every bend and extra foot of hose cuts down on the airflow way more than youd think. I had this whole setup with like 20ft of hose coiled up and wondered why my vac couldnt pick up a leaf lol.
