Why does nobody mention that a dryer vent run over 25 feet cuts airflow by half?
Found this in the install manual for a Whirlpool I pulled apart last week in Reno. Chart on page 12 shows 25 feet max for a rigid 4 inch run, and every 90 degree elbow knocks off 5 feet. The house I was at had 32 feet and three elbows. Lint was packed so tight behind the dryer it came out in a brick. Customer kept saying it took two cycles to dry a load. Checked it with a cheap anemometer and got about half the flow of a clean short run. If you are not measuring these runs on service calls you are missing the real cause. How do you all document vent length for the customer so they actually get it fixed?
