Finally tried a proper rigging block vs. just using a port-a-wrap for a big oak limb over a garage in Springfield

The block gave me way more control and less line wear, made the whole takedown feel smoother. Anyone else made a switch like that and been surprised how much it helped?

Wait, you were using just a port-a-wrap for big oak limbs before? That's wild to me. The difference in control is huge, like @alice_hart said about the roof. Makes you realize how much we just get used to the hard way of doing things. The block just eats up the friction so much better. Honestly surprised your rope held up as long as it did on those other jobs.

Oh man, my buddy's rope actually melted once.

The extra control was a lifesaver when lowering over that fragile roof.
