Hit my 500th tree removal last Tuesday and almost forgot to count it

I was so focused on getting this big oak down behind a garage that I didn't even realize it was my 500th takedown until my ground guy pointed out the tally mark on my notebook. Did any of you guys mark a big milestone and totally blank on it until later?

Lost count of my own removals around 250 because I started using a different color sharpie that month. Realized three weeks later I had been marking the wrong column in my tally book.

Wait, so you were marking the wrong column for three whole weeks? What made you finally catch it, did you look back at the tally and notice the numbers didn't add up right? I feel like that would mess with my head for a while, trying to figure out which trees actually counted. Were you tracking something else in that wrong column, like maybe stump grinding jobs or something?

Hold up, I gotta disagree here @the_derek. If the numbers were consistent and the job still got done, does it REALLY matter which column he was in? Sounds like the real screw up is the tally book, not Hugo.
